NOTES: "But Now I'm Redeemed" is No. 50 in from an excellent collection, "Songs of Pentecostal Power" edited by Robert Emmet Winsett in 1908. Winsett carefully selected the more popular gospel songs and if he didn't know the source, he usually added his initials R. E. W. Winsett. Winsett calls "Songs of Pentecostal Power: Complete" a "book of the very best spiritual soul-winnin songs."

"But Now I'm Redeemed " is Number 50 and was written F. M. Graham, author of the old southern gospel standard, "An Old Account Settled Long Ago." Frank Monford Graham died on 8/25/1931 in Greensboro, Georgia.  He had been born in Birmingham, Illinois on 3/1/1859.  Frank was an ordained minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church.  He served as district superintendent (northern Georgia) from about 1895 – 1915.  He was one of the founders of Central College now called Southern Wesleyan University (Central, South Carolina).

The southern gospel group Sego Brothers & Naomi recorded this song in 1964. I'm not aware of an other recordings.

BUT NOW I'M REDEEMED- Frank Monford Graham (text incomplete)

Long ago I wandered on in sin,
O'er life's rough and thorny way,
Often thinking of the judgment,
And the debt I had to pay.

Many time my life was sad,
And as dark as dark could be.
For I had no hope of heaven
From sin I was not free.

CHORUS: But now I'm redeemed (redeemd by the blood)
Yes I'm redeemed (and happy in God)
o happy the day (my sins washed away
I'll never forget (tis sweet to me yet)
When Jesus came in (and made my heart clean)
And cleansed me from sin (yes, took out my sin)
And whispered to me (dear soul you are free)
I've paid the great debt (I've paid the great debt).
