NOTES: "Bathe In That Beautiful Pool" was recored by Dock Walsh for Victor records in 1929. The title should be "Go Wash in that Beautiful Pool." Moses Macon recorded it as "Go Wash in that Beautiful Stream" in 1928 and it was also recorded under that title by the Southern Wonders Quartet in 1939. Walsh may have changed the title to avoid copyright issues.

Moses Mason a hillbilly performer, is his 1928 recording of "Go Wash in That Beautiful Stream" played the guitar is played in the simplest manner.

Archie Green: Dock Walsh first learned this song when he was a very little boy when his father was baptized. It wa sung by the minister and congregation at the riverside during the ritual. This piece was collected twice in North Carolina from traditional singers. Arthur Hudson identifies its source as II Kings 5: Elisha curing the Syrian King of leprosy."

The song was also in the African-American tradition and was recorded by Southern Wonders Quartet as "Go Wash in the Beautiful Stream" on the Davis label in 1940.
