Three Black Crows [The Three Ravens]- Creighton and Senior, 1950, p. 21. Sung by William Nelson, Kinsac, Nova Scotia.
Three black crows sat on a tree
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye,
And they were black as crows could be
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye.
One black crow said unto his mate,
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye,
What shall we do for something to eat?
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye.
An old red horse in yonder lane,
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye,
Who very lately has been slain,
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye.
We'll pick his eyes out one by one,
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye,
And pick the meat from off his bones,*
Ca beelya geelya gaw ye.
* Or, "and eat its flesh until it's gone."
