[From Randolph, Ozark Folksongs I, 1947.

A. "The Three Crows." Sung by Mr. Fred Terry, Joplin, Mo., Jan. 30, 1933. Related to little Brown Jug.
There were three crows set on a tree.
Billy MaGee, MaGaw.
There were three crows set on a tree,
And they were black as black could be,
Billy MaGee, MaGaw, MaGaw,
Billy MaGee, MaGaw.
Said one old crow unto his mate,
"What shall we do for meat to eat?"
"There lies a horse in Yonders Town,
That by the butcher has been slain.
We'll set ourselves on his backbone,
And pick his eyes out one by one."
