8C - LORD LOVEL
(A Parody)
Conmunicated by Mr. T. J. Mairs, state college, Pennsylvania, october, 1925, who learned it in New Orleans.
Lord Lovel he sat in Charles Hotel,
In Charlee Hotel sat he,
As fine a case of a Southern swell,
As you ever would wish to see
He swore by black and he swore by blue,
By black and by blue swore he,
He never would surrender nor give up
To a tarnished and black yankee.
Sir Faragut sailed down the lake with a fleet,
And down the lake sailed he;
Lord Lovel he instantly began to retreat,
Before the first boat he could see,
"Oh tarry, Lord Lovel, Sir Farragut cried,
"Oh tarry, Lord Lovel," said he.
I rather think not Sir," Lord Lovel replied,
"For I am in a great hurree."
