Wee Cruidland Dou- Nannie Orr (Renf) c1827 Crawfurd
[From Andrew Crawfurd's collection of ballads and songs; ed. Emily B. Lyle, Scottish Text Society - 1996. Crawfurd relates that when the Reverend Andrew Glen accosted Nannie Orr with the remark 'You are busy' she replied sternly 'The Deil is bizzie; but I am thrang onlie'.

My Bonnie Wee Cruidland Dou- Nannie Orr of Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire. She was known as Strandhead's daughter and was the younger sister of William Gemmel's wife, Janet Orr.
1 Whaur is tu been aw day,
My bonie wee cruidland dou;
I was sieand my step-dame;
To my bed, mammie, nou.
2 Quhat did thy step-dame gie thee;
My bonnie wee cruidland dou:
She gied me a peice o a boylt fish,
And it was baith black and blew.

She geit it to my father's gude hounds
