A fragment of the ballad, 'Lord Ronald', sung and collected by Hamlish Henderson from Speyside in September 1953:
"Oh whaur hae ye been, Lord Ronald my son?
Oh whaur hae ye been, my gallant young man?
It's I hae been tae the wild wid [wood], mither mak my bed soon
For I'm weary wi hunting and I fain would lie doon."
