F. The Brown Girl
- Sung by Mrs. George Hastings, Fayetteville, Ark., Dec. 16, 1941- A fragment recalled from a long ballad that her mother sang. Randolph F

Go my sonny and choose as you please,
But bring the brown girl here,
For she has money and she has land,
But Ellen, fair Ellen has none.

He took her by the lily-white hand,
Her garments they were green.
And every city that they passed through
They took her to be some queen.
