Lord Thomas- As sung by Mrs Fred Spoon, taken from her daughter in 1937. Mrs. Spoon learned this from her mother, Minnie Curtis.

Lord Thomas was a very gay gentleman,
He was lord of many a town,
Fair Eleanor was a very fair girl,
Lord Thomas loved her well.

Come father, come mother, come counsel me,
Come counsel as one,
Whether I marry fair Eleanor,
Or bring the Brown girl home.

The Brown girl she has house and land,
Fair Eleanor she has none,
Before we advise you a great blessing,
To bring the brown girl home.

He dressed himself in rich array,[1]
His merry men in green,
And every city that he rode through,
They took him to be some king.

He rode until he came to Fair Eleanor's house
So gently he knelt at (the) ring,
And none (was) so ready as Fair Eleanor herself,
To rise and let him come in.
