One Saturday Night When I Came Home- Dr. David Rosenbaum (NJ) 1922 REC
1. One Saturday night when I came home,
As drunk as I could be,
I saw a hat right on the rack,
Where my hat ought to be.
So I says to my wife, my darling wife,
Whose hat is that I see,
Whose hat is that upon the rack,
Where my hat ought to be.
Oh you damn fool you drunken fool,
You're blind and cannot see,
That hat is only a woman's hat,
My mother sent to me.
Now I've travelled near and travelled far,
And I hope to travel more,
But I never saw a woman's hat
With ear-laps on it before.
2. One Saturday night when I came home,
As drunk as I could be,
I saw a coat right on the rack,
Where my coat ought to be.
So I says to my wife, my darling wife,
Whose coat is that I see,
Whose coat is that upon the rack,
Where my coat ought to be.
Oh you damn fool you drunken fool,
You're blind and cannot see,
That coat is only a blanket,
My mother sent to me.
Now I've travelled near and travelled far,
And I hope to travel more,
But I never saw a blanket
With pockets on it before.
3. One Saturday night when I came home,
As drunk as I could be,
I saw a head right in the bed,
Where my head ought to be.
So I says to my wife, my darling wife,
Whose head is that I see,
Whose head is that right in the bed,
Where my head ought to be.
Oh you damn fool you drunken fool,
You're blind and cannot see,
That hat is only a head of cabbage,
My mother sent to me.
Now I've travelled near and travelled far,
And I hope to travel more,
But I never saw a head of cabbage
With mustache on it before.
