[Two stanza fragment from Barry MS II, No. 84D and Bronson TTCB, 1962, no. 190.

Barbara Allen- Sung by Jonathan Carter, Vineland, NJ, March 18, 1907 as learned by his father.
All in the merry month of May,
When green buds were a-swelling
Young Henry on his death bed lay
For love of Barbara Allen.
"If on your death-bed you do lie,
Why need the tale the telling,
I can not keep you from your death,
Farewell!" said Barbara Allen.
