Two Sisters- sung by Thelma Shatzel of Otsego, NY before 1939, collected by Harold Thompson.
He gave the oldest a golden ring,
Bow down, bow down,
He gave the oldest a golden ring,
Bow ye unto me,
He gave the oldest a golden ring,
And he gave the youngest-- most everything,
So I will be true and true to my love;
my love will be true to me.
He gave to the youngest a silken hat,
It made the oldest mad at that.
One night as they walked by the river's brim,
The oldest pushed the youngest in.
The miller with his hook and line,
He caught her by her crinoline.
Next Sunday to church they did go,
And now they're married I suppose.
