Sister, O Sister- Chase (NC) 1936 Wilkinson H
[My title, none given. From Bronson, No. 53. Single stanza with music from the notebook of William Wilkinson who worked with Kyle Davis Jr. in the 30s writing musical transcriptions for folk songs and ballads. Richard Chase was a collector and performer, who directed the Whitetop Festival in Virginia in the late 1930s. His version was taken from an unknown source and was not traditional to him. This is likely a Virginia version but is not the same as Horton Barker's, who Chase collected from around that time.

[Sister, O Sister]- Wilkinson MSS, 1935-36, p. 23(H). Sung by Richard Chase, Chapel Hill, N.C., April 4, 1936.
Sister, O sister, let's take a walk out,
Bow down, Bow down,
Sister, O sister, let's take a walk out,
And the bough is bent to me
To see those little ships sailing about
Be true, true, be true to my love
My love will be true to me.
