1. There was a wee cooper that lived in Fife,
 Nickety nackety noo, noo, noo,
And he has gotten a gentle wife. [1]
Heigh willy wallicky how jock doogle,
Alane carooshity noo, noo, noo.

2. She wadna' caird and she wadna' spin,
For the shamin' o' her gentle kin.

3. She wadna' bake and she wadna' brew
For the spoilin' o' her comely hue.

4. She wadna wash and she wadna wring
For the spoilin'o' her braw gold ring.

5. The cooper has gane to his 'oo' pack
And he's laid a sheepskin on his ain wife's back.

6. I daurna thrash ye for your proud kin,
But I'm sure I may thrash my ain sheepskin.
