The Lady From the North Country- As sung by Allie Long Parker, Eureka Springs, Arkansas on November 5, 1958. This is just part of this song and all that Allie Long Parker could remember. She learned this from her Father.

VERSE 1
There was a lady grand
And children she had three
She sent them away to the north country
To learn their grammaree

VERSE 2
They had not been there long
Not more'n two weeks or three
Till death, O death, it came in haste
An' snatched those babes away

VERSE 3
She spread her table white
She spread it with bread and wine
Saying, babes, O babes, come down from heaven
And eat and drink of mine

VERSE 4
We cannot eat your bread
And we cannot drink your wine
For yonder stands our own dear Saviour
To him we must resign
