My Bonny, Bonny Boy- Cleveland (NY) 1966 REC
[My title, originally titled, "My Bonny Bon Boy" (she sings the second Bonny as Bon or Bonny Bon Boy but it seems to be shortened from Bonnie which she also sings). Her son James, sang it "Bonny Bon Boy." It happens- a "Far in the Mountain" title. From: Ballads and Songs of the Upper Hudson Valley; Folk-Legacy FSA 33. Recorded by Sandy Paton, Brant Lake, NY; 1966.

My Bonny, Bonny Boy- Sung by Sara Cleveland, Brant Lake, NY; 1966.
"What had you for your dinner, my bonny bonny boy,
What had you for your dinner my comfort and joy?"
"An eel fried in butter, mother make my bed soon,
For I'm sickened to my heart and I want to lie down."
"What will you leave your father, my bonny bonny boy,
What will you leave your father, my comfort and joy?"
"My house and my land mother make my bed soon,
For I'm sickened to my heart and I want to lie down."
"What will you leave your brother, my bonny bonny boy,
What will you leave your brother, my comfort and joy?"
"My horse and my saddle, mother make my bed soon,
For I'm sickened to my heart and I want to lie down."
"What will you leave your mother, my bonny bonny boy,
What will you leave your mother, my comfort and joy?"
"The gates of heaven opened, mother make my bed soon,
For I'm sickened to my heart and I want to lie down."
"What will you leave your wife, my bonny bonny boy,
What will you leave your wife, my comfort and joy?"
"The gates of hell wide open, mother make my bed soon,
For I'm sickened to my heart and I want to lie down."
