[Lady Margaret] 7.1. Contributed by Mrs. Glasscock, who learned it from a cousin; only her first two and final two verses are given (for music see Ex. 12).
(1) Sweet William arose one Easter morn
And dressed himself in blue;
"Pray tell me about the long courtship
'Tween Lady Marg'ret and you."
(2) "I know nothing of Lady Margaret,
And she knows nothing of me;
But tomorrow morning just the hour of day,
Lady Marg'ret my bride shall be."
(13) "Is Lady Margaret in her drawing room?
Or is she in the hall?
Or is she in her high chamber,
A-combing her long yellow hair?"
(14) "She is not in her drawing room;
She is not in the hall;
But she lies in yonder in her cold coffin,
With her pale face turned to the wall."
