1. Black Jack Davy came riding through the woods,
He laughed both loud and merry ,
Made the green fields around him ring,
Till he charmed the heart of a Lady.
And He charmed the heart of a Lady.

2 "How old are you, my sweet little miss?
How old are you, my honey?'
She answered him with a 'tee hee hee!
I'll be sixteen a Sunday,
I'll be sixteen a Sunday."

3 "Would you forsake your house and land,
Would you forsake your baby?
Would you forsake your husband dear
And go with the Black Jack Davy,
And go with the Black Jack Davy?"

4 "Yes, I'll forsake my house and land,
And I'll forsake your baby,
And I'll forsake my husband dear
And go with the Black Jack Davy
And go with the Black Jack Davy."

5 She pulled off her high heel shoes
All made of Spanish leather;
She put on some low heel shoes,
And they both rode off together
And they both rode off together.

6 Last night I slept on a fine feather bead
Beside my husband and baby
But tonight I'll sleep on the cold, dark ground,
In the arms of the Black Jack Davy
In the arms Black Jack Davy.

7 Was late last night when the landlord came in,
Inquiring for his lady,
When walked over a fair little miss:
"She's gone with the Black Jack Davy,
She's gone with the Black Jack Davy."

8 Go saddle for me  my milk-white horse
The black is not so speedy,
I ride all nigh and I'll ride all day,
I'll go bring back my lady
I'll go bring back my lady.
