Black Jack Davie- Contributed by Louis Yarborough; North Carolina. c. 1936

1. Black Jack David come riding through the woods,
Singing so loud and merry;
He charmed the heart of a pretty little miss,
And tuned the heart of a lady.

2. "How old are you my pretty miss
How old are you my young honey?"
She laughed and said with a Tee! hee! hee!
"I'll be sixteen next Sunday."

3. Saddle up my old gray mare,
Hand me down my derby
I'll ride and I'll ride till I come to the sea,
And find that Black Jack Davie.
