[The Jew's Daughter] Sir Hugh of Lincoln -sung by May F. Hoisington, Rye, N.Y.; learned in Pennsylvania from her nurse of Welsh extraction.

1. One day it rained in our town,
The rain did softly fall,
And all the boys in our town,
Went out to toss the ball, ball, ball,
Went out to toss the ball.

2. And 6rst it went too high
And then it went too low
And then it fell in the Jew's garden
Where nobody dared to go.

3. Then out and came the Jew's daughter
All dressed in silk so fine'
Says she, Sir Hugh, oh pretty Sir Hugh,
Come get that ball of thine.

4. And first she gave him an apple
' And then she gave him a pear
And then she gave him a pretty gold ring
Which coaxed the poor little boy in.

5. She rolled him up in a napkin,
" She Pinned him with a pin
And then she took out her little pen knife
And stuck his Poor little heart in, In, in, in,
And stuck his Poor little heart in.

6. "Oh put the Prayer book at my head,
The Bible at my feet,
If any my people call for me,
Pray tell um that I am asleep.

7. "Oh put the Prayer book at my feet
' The Bible at my head
If any my people call for me
Pray tell them that I am dead."
