Only a Soldier- sung by Lena Bourne Fish (NH) 1941 Warner
1. I'll tell you of a soldier who lately come from war;
He courted a lady who had riches laid in store;
Her riches was so great that they scarcely could be told,
But still she loved her soldier for he was brave and bold.
2 She said: "My honored soldier, I fain would be your wife,
But my old Tory father would take away my life."
He took his sword and pistols and hung them by his side,
And vowed that he would marry her, whatever might betide.
