Where the fountain does flow
Sweet music a damsel
Over the soft wind doth blow

VERSE 2: There lives a fair damsel
Her name I adore
She's the girl I may marry
On Red River shore

VERSE 3: I asked her ole father
To give her to me
No, no, kind sir
She can wed no cowboy
So, I got on my horse
An' away I did go
Away from my true love

An' wrote it so kind
An' in this letter
