GET UP AND SHUT THE DOOR
B. Mrs. Lavinia Bone, also of Pineville, Mo., was present when Mrs. Wilbur sang the above [See version A]: "she remarked that she had heard the song a long time ago at Pea Ridge, Ark., but couldn't remember the words. She added that Mrs. wilbur "had got th' tune wrong," and that "it was kind of a dirty song, anyhow." Finally, after "humming" awhile, she recited the following:
They et up all the sausage meat,
Get up an' shut the door!
. . . . .
So they cut off the old man's beard!
