"Light doon, light doon, Lady Margaret," he said,
"Hold my steed in yer hand,
Until I face your seven brothers bold,
And make your father to stand."

"O choose, then choose, Lady Margaret," he said,
"It's ye either go or it's bide.
"O I'm gaun wi' you Lord William," she said,
"For you've left me no other guide."
