CHAPTER VII- WESTERN SONGS
A total of nineteen different songs have been presented in this chapter of western songs. The first division of nine songs tells a story of death, and the second group of ten songs gives home, love or occupation as the thing that draws or hold the hero to the West.
Because of the unusual number of version of 'The Dying Cowboy" and "O Bury Me Not on the Prairie" it is thought they should be considered in comparing the popularity of the subjects.
