AA. "The Boy and the Devil." collected by Miss Alfreda M. Peel, of Salem, Va. Sung by Mrs. Ninninger, of Roanoke, Va., Roanoke county. November 6, 1941. "Am trying to get rest of song," writes Miss Peel on the manuscript, but no addition seems to have been forthcoming.
Devil: "I wish you out in yonder sea."
Boy: "With a good boat under me."
Devil: "And the bottom would drop out."
Boy: "And you were in and I were out."
