Sweet William- William Bone (Hamp) 1907 Gardiner

[No date given. George Gardiner Manuscript Collection (GG/1/17/1097). Charles Gamblin visited Bone in 1907 and was Gardiner's music transcriber.

Sweet William- sung by William Bone of Medstead, Hampshire (66) about November 1907.

A sailor's life is a merry life:
They rob young men of their heart's delight,
Leaving them behind to sigh and mourn:
Never knowing when they will return.

Father, fetch me a little boat
That I may all on the ocean  float,
And every Queen's ship I pass by
I may enquire for my sailor boy.
