B. Lord Bateman- Sung by Moses Harris of Lethbridge, NL,

Lord Bateman was a noble lord,
A noble merchant of high degree;
And he had one of the biggest warships,
That ever sailed over the brine-salt sea.

Oh he sailed east and he sailed west,
Until he came to well-known Turkey
Where he was taken and put prison,
Until his life it was quite weary.

The proud Turk he had one only daughter,
The only daughter of high degree;
She stole the keys of her father's prison,
And vowed Lord Bateman she would set free.

"Have you got houses, have you got land,
Or do Northumberland belong to thee?
And what would you give to the fair young lady,
If out of prison would set you free?"

"Yes, I got houses and I got land,
And half  Northumberland belongs to me;
I'd give it all to a fair young lady,
If out of prison would set me free."

She took him down to her father's cellar,
And treated him with  the best of wine;
And every she would say unto him,
"I wish Lord Bateman that you were mine."
