"The Bonny Earl of Moray" -Sung by Fred Williams of upper New York State; learned from an old Scotchman in Buffalo. Collected by Phyllis Klein and Dorothea Kiekhuff. Edited by Edward Cray. Bronson adds: The timing seems doubtful but I have not ventured to adjust it.

Ye heelands and ye lowlands,
Oh where hae ye been.
They hae slain the Earl of Morav
An' laid him on the green.

He was a braw gallant
An' he played at the glove
And the Bonny Earl of Moray,
He was the queen's love.

Oh, lang will his ladv.
Look frae the castle doon,
Ere she see the Earl of Moray
Come stumblin' frae the toon.

Away ye Huntley
And wherefore be dead
I bade ye bring him wi' ye,
An' forbade ye him to slay.

He was a braw gallant
An' he rayed[1] the ring
And the bonny Earl of Moray,
He must have been a king.

Oh, lang will his lady
Look frae the castle doon,
Ere she see the Earl of Moray
Come stumblin' frae the toon.
