The Valiant's Daughter- Sung by Mr. Albert Sallee Vian, Oklahoma April 20, 1960

There was a youth, a well-beloved youth,
The squire's on-lie[1] son,
Who fell in love with the valiant's daughter,
The belle of Hazling Town.

When their old parents they came this to know
The intentions of both minds,
They banished him away to London Town,
His prisons to combine [2]
Oh they banished him away to London Town
Also as to be confined,
While the valiant's daughter of Hazling town
She'll still run through his mind.

One evening, one evening, one evening in May,
The maids of Hazling Town
Went out to sport and play
While the valiant's daughter of Hazling Town,
She slylie stoled away.

She dressed herself in Scarlet red
And stood by the broad wayside,
And who did she spy but her old true love
Come a-riding by.

Straightway, straightway to him she went,
And she caught by the bridle rein
One penny, one penny of charitee
A traveler I'll maintain.

Oh, it's where are you going, my pretty little miss,
Likewise, it's who can you be?
Oh, I'm a Brown from Hazling Town
A many a frown you see.

And it's you're a Brown from Hazling Town,
What news can you give from the valiant's daughter
Is she dead, or does she live?
Oh, the valiant's daughter of Hazling Town,
She died six months ago,
And the valiant's daughter of Hazling Town
She lies in her green grave low.
Oh, it's take from me my milk white steed,
Likewise my sword and bow,

And I'll go roving over the sea,
Where there's no one I do know.
And I'll go roving over the sea,
Where there's noone I can find,
While the valiant's daughter of Hazling Town
She'll still run through my mind.

Oh, the valiant's daughter of Hazling Town
She now stands by your side,
And the valiant's daughter of Hazling Town
Intends to be your bride.
