See Me Across the Water- McDowells (Fiddle tune)

See Me Cross the Water- McDowells (Fiddle tune)

[This was published as "See me Cross the Water," and apparently is the source of the arrangement published by Charles Bryan who probably taught it to Winifred Smith. Several versions for recorder are found online and on youtube. Cross could be " 'Cross" for "across."

SEE ME CROSS THE WATER
[Pretty Little Girl]

Pretty little girl with a blue dress on,
Pretty little girl with a blue dress on,
Pretty little girl with a blue dress on,
See me cross the water

She's the girl that stole my heart,
She's the girl that stole my heart,
She's the girl that stole my heart,
See me cross the water.

Bright blue eyes and curly hair,
Bright blue eyes and curly hair,
Bright blue eyes and curly hair,
See me cross the water.

Old Miss Jones, and she'll be there,
Old Miss Jones, and she'll be there,
Old Miss Jones, and she'll be there,
See me cross the water.

This is remembered by L.L. McDowell and Mrs. McDowell as a "Fiddle Tune" of their childhood.
