Golden Vanity- Jackman (NL) 1930 Karpeles

[Single stanza with music collected by Karpeles in 1930. The ship he sinks is usually not the Golden Vanity (the ship the boy usually is sailing on). "Dazzled all their sight" refers to the onrushing water "dazzling" their sight.

GOLDEN VANITY- Sung by Theodore Jackman at Grole, Hermitage Bay July 22, 1930.

The boy took his auger and overboard he jumped,
He swam until he came to the Golden Vanity.
Where he bored three holes in each side, and it dazzled all their sight,
And he sank her in the lowlands, lowlands, lowlands,
And he sank her in the lowlands low.
