1. Georgie Collins came home one cold winter night,
Georgie Collins came home so bright,
Georgie Collins came home one cold winter night,
He was taken sick and died.
2. There was a fair lady in yonders town
Who was clothed in silk so fine,
But when she heard that Georgie was dead
She laid it down and cried.
3. Dear daughter, dear daughter, what makes you do sol
There's plenty of men besides George.
O mama, mama, he's got my heart
And now I'm left alone.
4. Lay down the coffin, take off the lid,
Place back the linen so fine
And let me kiss his clay cold lips,
I'm sure he'll never kiss mine.
5. She followed him up, she followed him down,
She followed him to his grave,
And there she knelt on her bending knee,
She wept, she mourned, she cried.
