Andy Bardeen - sung by  Mr. John Pennington Fayetteville, Ark. June 8, 1952

Three younger brothers all cast lots,
The youngest one of three,
To maintain the other two older boys
He went robbing all on the salt sea.

He had not sailed more'n three cold nights
Till a ship a-sailing did spy,
A-sailing far off, a-sailing far off,
At length she came sailing near by.

"Who's there, who's there?" cried Andy Bardeen,
"Who's there that sails so nigh?"
"We're three merchant vessels from old Scotland,
Will you please, sir, let us pass by?"

"Oh no, oh no," cried Andy Bardeen,
 "That never, never can be,
Your ship we will sink and your body, boys,
But your cargo we'll carry with us.

Broadcast[1], broadcast, those ships did roll,
Like thunder the cannons did roar,
Till they give'm a death wound and was forced to draw off,
They returned to old England's fair land.

The king he fixed up vessels three,
Charles Stuart put in command,
Go capture those robbers that sails upon sea
And bring them to England's fair land.

They had not sailed more'n three cold nights
Till a ship a-sailing did spy,
A-sailing far off, a-sailing far off,
At length she came sailing near by.

"Who's there, who's there," cried Captain Charles Stuart,
"Who's there that sails so nigh?"
"We're three bold robbers from old Scotland,
Will you please, sir, let us pass by?"

"Oh no, oh no," cried Captain Charles Stuart,
"That never, never can be,
Your ship we will sink and your cargo, boys,
But your bodies we'll carry with us."

Broadcast[1], broadcast, those ships did roll,
Like thunder the cannons did roar,
Till they give'm a death wound and they were forced to draw off,
They returned to old England's fair land.

"Go tell your king these words for me,
Go tell him this for me,
That he remains king for old England's fair land,
But I'll remain king of the sea."
