Yaddle Laddle- Gant Family (TX) 1948 Seeger
[From American Folk Songs for Children by Ruth Crawford Seeger - 1948. Collected from the Gant family, a poor Mormon family that lived in the hills outside Austin, Texas. The Gants were east Texas people from the sandy, square -dancing, razorback country that stretches into Arkansas, through northern Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama to the mountains.

Yaddle Laddle (How old are You?)- sung by Gant family, Texas published in 1948.
Lyrics. How old are you, my pretty little miss?
How old are you, my honey?”
She answered me with a silly little smile,
“I'll be sixteen this Sunday.”
Refrain: Yaddle laddle laddle um daisy,
Yaddle laddle laddle um
yaddle laddle laddle um,
Yaddle laddle laddle um daisy.
Where are you going pretty little miss?
Where are you going, my honey?”
She answered me with a silly little smile,
I'm looking for my mommie.
Refrain: Yaddle laddle laddle um daisy,
Yaddle laddle laddle um
yaddle laddle laddle um,
Yaddle laddle laddle um daisy.
