SIXTEEN COME SUNDAY.  Remembered by Mrs. Flora McDowell from her youth (c.1905).

1. As I rode out one warm spring day,
The day was bright and sunny.
'Twas then I spied my pretty little Miss,
'Twas then I spied my honey,
'Twas then I spied my honey.

2. "Where are you going my pretty little Miss?
Where are you going my Honey?"
She answered me quite modestly,
"I'm going to the spring for Mummy,
I'm going to the spring for Mummy."

3. "How old are you, my pretty little Miss?
How old are you, my Honey?"
She answered me quite modestly,
"I'll be sixteen come Sunday,
I'll be sixteen come Sunday."

4. "Will you marry me, my pretty little Miss?
Will you marry me, my Honey?"
She answered me with a "Yes Siree,
You may go and ask my Mummy,
You may go end ask my Mummy."
