CHORUS: Don't you want to be a lover of the lord,
Of the lord, of the lord?
Don't you want to be a lover of the lord?
Don't you want to go to heaven when you die?
CHORUS:
It's Jesus Christ I long to find,
Can you tell me where he is?
He's the only one can heal my mind
And give my conscience peace.
Don't You Want To Be a Lover of the Lord?- Utica Institute Jubilee Singers; Victor 49788, 1929
CHORUS: Don't you want to be a lover of the Lord, (Oh God Almighty)
Of the Lord (Hear Him callin'), of the Lord? (running from the Devil)
Don't you want to be a lover of the Lord? (Oh God Almighty)
Don't you want to go to heaven when you die?
CHORUS:
VERSE (slowly): It's Jesus Christ, I long to find,
Pray tell me where he is?
He's (the) only one can heal my mind
And give my conscience peace.
VERSE (slowly): *What shall I tell you 'bout my Lord
From any other man
He wears salvation on his brow
And in his arms the lamb.
I thank you friend for your advice
I'll mind Him if I can
And if I do, I will rejoice
In Christ a friend to man.
