NOTES: "Dip Me In de Golden Sea" is a public domain jubilee song from Edward Harrington (words) and David Braham (music) in 1881. It made its full appearance as the commercial pseudo-spiritual or "Jubilee song" around 1880, and Braham produced an example in 1881, "Dip Me in de Golden Sea," which sported the pentatonic scale.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday September 21, 1882 it was performed by Alfred Lawton as "Dip in the Golden Sea." "Dip Me in the Golden Sea," was recorded by early country musicians Frank and James McCravy in 1928.
Other variants of the original include this chorus:
Dip me — dip me —
dip me — dip me —
Dip me in de golden sea.
