Jaunson City- Clyde West of Robbinsville, Graham County, North Carolina. No date given.

Jaunson[1] city I used to dwell,
A sailor boy I love so well
He courted me my heart away,
But with me how he will not stay.

There were a girl in the very same town.
He would often go and sit down,
And take this strange girl upon his knee
And tell her things he wouldn't tell me.

It was late in the night when her papa came in
Inquiring of his daughter dear,
Upstairs to the door, he broke
He founded her hanging by a rope,

He [took his] knife cut her down
In her bosom a letter he found.
Go take this letter to the one I love
To show this world I died in  love.

Go dig my grave both wide and deep.
Place marble stones at my head and feet.
And in the mists then grow a little tree
To show this world I died in love.

And in the top [of] that little tree
There grows a little dove
To make him weep and mourn for me.
