Above is Justin Swaim (age 11) in one of his first performances at High Rock Lake marina around 2001. Justin was student of Richard Matteson off-and-on since he was 7 years old. When he was 10 he started playing well and in one or two more years became and excellent banjo picker and one of the best Messenger banjo players.
Justin was featured on Bluegrass Boogie and does the solo on Foggy Mountain Breakdown. Although he would play much better in a couple years it showed he was going to be good. By the time Justin attended Glenn High School he also became fine singer and guitarist. Justin played many concerts and events including with Doc Watson in Eden NC and most of the Prissy Polly gigs in Kernersville.
Justin is in college now and hopefully keeping his music carreer alive.
