Don Bloomgarden, fiddle (on right) helped organize a band when the Messengers palyed at St. Masry's College for the River Series. We had four Messengers coming but only two made it. I played guitar and my ex-wife Rhonda sang back-up. Ted Lyons and Sally Spring couldn't come at the last minute so Don added a few local pickers and we ended up with a fine sounding group.
I was supposed to be the leader and picked the songs out that we would play. When we went on stage Don went up to the mic and called out a song I didn't even know for the first number, now that's baptism by fire. I was surprised but had no trouble playing along and even taking a short solo. I think Don realized what happened and after that everything went as planned.
It was great weekend and a lot of fun.
