Brooke Gwyn studied guitar while she was in high school with Richard Matteson for two or three years. She has a powerful voice and soon began playing at coffeshops with Richard and occasionally filled in as a vocalist- guitarist with the Bluegrass Messengers around 1996- 1997.
Brooke was the vocalist guitarist at a big performance for First Night held at Wake Forrest University's Grove's Stadium.
