NOTES: Big Bill Broonzy recorded "Alberta" in 1956 near the end of his career, sadly he would die of cancer two years later in 1958. He learned Alberta from his Uncle whose wife was name Alberta.

The song is not the same song as the song "Alberta III" by Leadbelly or "Alberta Alberta," another name for the song "Corrine Corinna" usually attributed to Bo Chatman of the Mississippi Shieks and was copyrighted by him and J.W. Williams in 1931. Eric Clapton scored a recent hit under the Alberta title when his version of the Corinne Corrina song was included on his 1992 Unplugged CD.

Leadbelly's song "Roberta" is more similar to the song "Alberta" or "Alberta Alberta," another name for the song "Corrine Corinna" usually attributed to Bo Chatman.

ALBERTA- BIG BILL BROONZY
Listen:
Big Bill Broonzy

Alberta, Alberta, oh, Alberta
Alberta, Alberta, oh, Alberta

I've been gambling all night
And I've lost all of my money
So ride, Alberta, ride

Ride, Alberta, ride
Ride, ride to me

I don't care what time of night
As long as you just treat me right
Baby, and ride, ride to me

Ride, Alberta, ride
Ride, ride to me

Saddle up your pony baby
Put everything you got on it,
Baby, just ride, ride to me.

Ride, Alberta, ride
Ride, ride to me

I don't care what time of night
Long as you just treat me right
Baby, and ride, Alberta, ride

Oh, ride, Alberta, ride
Ride, ride to me

You don't need no saddle, baby
You don't need no gun
Baby, just ride, ride to me
