Bluegrass Lyrics Page
This site is an ongoing collection of bluegrass and bluegrass related lyrics. Right now I'm working on the 305 Child ballads. I have finished roughing in the Fiddle and Instrumental Tunes- warning- there are still some minor mistakes. I'll be proofing the Fiddle tune section and adding MP3s. The final stage is adding links- then final proofs. Hopefully I'll get these completely done by the end of 2014.
On the left panel there is a list of Fiddle Tunes in alphabetical order. You'll need to click on the alphabetical section with the title you want, then after the section opens, click on the title. Some popular tunes do not have lyrics and are not included. I am writing original lyrics and arranging traditional lyrics for some of my favorite tunes including Blackberry Blossom, Big Sandy River, Jerusalem Ridge, Salt Creek and Red-Haired Boy.
I've also started the Blues, Jazz, Ragtime and Tin-Pan Alley section, which I'll work on more as I finish the fiddle tune section by carefully proofing them and adding links to recordings and printed sources. I've also started the Children's Bluegrass Songs section, which are children's songs, lullabies and play-party songs and outlined the Public Domain and Traditional Bluegrass Songs. I've completed the A-B section of Traditional and Public Domain Gospel Songs.
You are welcome to contribute lyrics and information about the songs. I am particularly interested in learning new versions, related versions and info about the origins of the songs. Please E-mail any info to: Richiematt@aol.com
